Jonathan Green
Jonathan has been entrenched in golf for 16 years. His father, Chris, introduced
him to the game at age 8.
He had a successful junior career, accumulating over 70 tournament wins. His junior
career accomplishments include competing in four Junior World Golf Championships,
playing for Junior America’s Cup and Hogan Cup teams, and winning the OSAA High
School State Tournament. The highlight of his junior golf career came when he competed
in the US Junior Amateur Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club.
With his high-quality play in junior golf he earned a golf scholarship to Oregon
State University. He had a rewarding college golf experience, which included winning
the Northwest Collegiate Classic, and setting a then school and tournament record
of 13 under par. His performance earned him Golfweek and Golfworld collegiate player
of the week honors.
After graduating from Oregon State with a degree in Business Management, Jonathan
pursued a career in professional golf, in both playing and teaching. He competed
on California’s Golden State Tour while studying under Top 100 Instructor Kip Puterbaugh
in Carlsbad, California. His experience on the tour complimented his certification
training with current partner Kip Puterbaugh. Jonathan has worked with mini-tour
professionals and beginners, helping them gain a better understanding of their games,
which has equated to lower scoring.
Upon completing certification with Kip Puterbaugh’s Aviara Golf Academy, Jonathan
partnered with Kip Puterbaugh to establish the Puterbaugh-Green Academy of Golf
and bring his knowledge of the golf swing to the Northwest.
David Green
As with each of the instructors on our staff, David has a history of successful
golf at the competitive level. With over 15 years of tournament experience, his
high quality play has earned him a number of local and state honors, including two
state championship victories at the Oregon State Junior Match Play and the OSAA
State High School tournaments. A two-time Player of the Year winner in Southern
California’s VJGA, he qualified for the annual Junior World Golf Championship at
Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, CA.
David’s strong, consistent play earned him a spot on Oregon’s team in the annual
Hogan Cup, which is a tournament consisting of all the best junior golfers in the
Western United States and Canada. He would go on to play at the college level, winning
8 times and receiving the Athlete of the Year award at Oregon State’s Central Oregon
location in Bend. With his greatest strengths being power and mental toughness,
he decided to start competing in long drive competitions both locally and nationally.
He has reached the Regional stage of the World Remax Long Drive Championship three
times, and he recently missed qualifying for the national final by 3 yards in Warner
Springs, CA.
With a blend of success in many different areas of the game, David brings a perspective
to golf instruction that can help any player looking to improve. His affable personality
and simple approach to teaching helps his students learn quickly in an enjoyable
manner.
Christian Green
Having been a competitive player for over 15 years, Christian has a great understanding
of what it takes to play great golf. He had a successful junior career winning many
local and statewide tournaments, both in California and Oregon. At sixteen he qualified
for the Junior World Golf Championship at the famed Torrey Pines Golf Course in
La Jolla, CA.
In high school he was first team all league 4 straight years, and first team all
state 3 straight years. He helped lead his high school golf team to 2 state championships
and 2 state championship runner-ups in his career on the team. He earned his way
onto two Hogan Cup Teams, and played for the Oregon team as they set a one round
scoring record in his second year. His success in both junior golf and high school
led him to playing golf for Oregon State University. Competing in one of the strongest
golf conferences in the country in the PAC-10, he had the opportunity to play and
compete with a number of future PGA tour players and top amateurs.
With a deeper level of knowledge and understanding gained from his Division I golf
experience, Christian decided to work through the PGA program, allowing him to play
in section events and move forward in pursuing a career in golf. It wasn’t long
before he found that he enjoyed working with players and helping them enjoy the
game by learning how to play better golf. As one of the most accurate long hitters
in Oregon, he has a unique ability to communicate to his students the fundamentals
of a powerful and repeatable golf swing. With the knowledge that Christian has of
all aspects of the game, he can help the student get the most out of their abilities
and make golf more rewarding and enjoyable.
